Bobby Womack is an American singer-songwriter and musician, he has a net worth of $20 million. Bobby Womack has earned his net worth from his career as an active recording artist, who started in the early 1960's. He began his career as a backing guitarist for Sam Cooke in his family's group The Valentinos. Womack's career of 40-plus years includes a variety of musical styles like R&B, soul, rock and roll, doo-wop, gospel, and country. He was born on March 4, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, he and his four brothers founded The Womack Brothers group and toured the gospel circuit. After being discovered by Sam Cooke they changed the name of the band to the Valentinos and began performing R&B music. The group's first single "Lookin' For a Love topped at #8 on the Billboard R&B chart. The band began to dwindle in 1964 following the death of Sam Cooke, went on to split up in 1966. As a songwriter Womack's credits include; The Rolling Stones hit "It's All Over Now" and New Birth's single "I Can Understand It". He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Womack's song "Across 110th Street" was featured in the films Jackie Brown directed by Quentin Tarantino and the Denzel Washington film American Gangster. Some of Womack most recent work includes the songs "Cloud of Unknowing" with Gorillaz in 2010 and "Bobby In Phoenix" also with Gorillaz in 2011. He also received a Grammy Award nomination for the Best Short-Form Music Video: "Stylo" in 2011 shared with Mos Def & Gorillaz.
