Born in 1977 as Khia Shamone Chambers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Khia was expelled from her high school and had to enroll in an alternative school. She moved to Hawaii after the birth of her first child in 1991, a daughter she named after herself. A year later, she had her second child. Khia released her debut album in 2002. The lead single off "Thug Misses", "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)", broke into the top 50 on the charts and was featured on the soundtrack to the TV show "Dark Angel". Her follow-up effort wasn't released, and she began working on her next album, "Gangstress", which became her second record in 2006. It landed at number 67 on the Billboard R&B charts, while her song, "So Excited", with Janet Jackson took the top spot on the dance club play charts. Two years later, Khia released her third album, "Nasti Muzik", and competed on VH1's "Miss Rap Supreme", though she was eliminated. Khia's fourth album, "MotorMouf aka Khia Shamone", dropped in 2012, and her fifth, "Love Locs", came out in the summer of 2014. Khia's first book, "Ignoring the Signs", is expected in late 2014.
