A comedian, actor, writer, director, and producer, Billy Crystal is most widely recognized for his comedic roles in such films as, "The Princess Bride", "City Slickers", and "When Harry Met Sally". Born William Edward Crystal on March 14, 1948, in New York City, he appeared as a renaissance man to a bygone era and rightfully earned his place as one of Hollywood's most endearing stars throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He started to hone his comedic talents as a young boy along with his older brothers as they reprized comedy routines from the likes of Bob Newhart, Rich Little and Sid Caesar records their father would bring. This would let Crystal took the comedy clubs of the city by storm as a teenager. He managed to make a name for himself on TV, particularly as a mid-1980s cast member of "Saturday Night Live" (NBC, 1975- ), as well as with two HBO comedy specials. It was not long before, Crystal cemented his status as a full-fledged movie star in movies like "When Harry Met Sally" (1989), "City Slickers" (1991) and later on "Analyze This"(1999). Also, he was frequently hosting the annual Academy Awards, for which he was regarded as one of the best emcee the ceremony had ever had.
