What is Flo Rida's net worth?

Flo Rida is an American rapper who has a net worth of $50 million. Tramar Lacel Dillard, but better known as Flo Rida, toured as a teenager with 2 Live Crew's Fresh Kid Ice. He appeared on high-profile mixtapes by 2006, most notably DJ Khaled's "We the Best on Bitch I'm from Dade County." He also appeared with the likes of Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, Trina and Dre (of Cool & Dre). He soon signed with the Atlantic-distributed Poe Boy Records. In March 2008 he released the album "Mail on Sunday." The album's lead single "Low," featuring T-Pain reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. A year later he surfaced with the album "R.O.O.T.S. (Route of Overcoming the Struggle)." That album featured massive hit "Round." The album "Only 1 Flo, Pt. 1" was released in 2010 with tracks produced by dance music star David Guetta. His 2012 release "Wild Ones," featured contributions from Dr. Luke, Avicii, and Axwell. The album contained the two big hits "Whistle" and "Good Feeling."

Celsius Lawsuit

In 2014 Flo Rida signed and endorsement deal with an energy drink called Celsius. The original contract, which was renegotiated and extended in 2016, reportedly promised Flo Rida various bonuses and stock options as a portion of his compensation if certain sales milestones were achieved. In a lawsuit that would be filed in 2021, Flo's lawyers claimed the contract entitled the rapper to 500,000 shares basically by default from the terms of the contract AND an additional 250,000 shares if various sales "units" were achieved. If all milestones were achieved, Flo Rida could have owned 1% of the company.

The contract was reportedly vague. As in, it apparently did not give a timeline for milestones to be hit AND did not specifically define what a "unit" was. A unit could have been a single drink, a box, a case… Flo Rida's lawyers further argued that their client wasn't given access to Celsius' financial performance, so he wasn't able to understand if, how and when any milestones were surpassed.

Flo Rida sued Celsius in 2021 and on January 19, 2023 a jury found in his favor. The jury in that civil case ordered Celsius to pay Flo Rida $82.6 million in damages.

Early Life

Flo Rida's real name is Tramar Lacel Dillard, and he was born on September 16th of 1979. He was raised alongside seven sisters in Carol City, Florida. From a young age, Tramar was closely connected to the music industry. His sisters often sang in a Gospel group, and his brother-in-law was a so-called "hype man" for a local rap group.

Early Career

By the time Tramar was in ninth grade, he was part of a rap group called GroundHoggz. For the next eight years, he remained a member of this crew. One day, a local rapper called Fresh Kid Ice decided to take Flo Rida under his wing and teach him the ropes. This period of education helped Flo Rida, although he was rejected by the first few record labels he approached with his demo reel.

After studying Business Management for a few months at University, Flo Rida emerged in 2000 to join Hot Boyz. At this point, he started to make valuable connections with other Southern hip-hop artists.

Breakthrough as a Solo Artist

In 2008, Flo Rida released his debut solo album, Mail on Sunday. He made waves with the first single off the album, which was a collaboration with T-Pain called "Low." The track later reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, putting Flo Rida on the map. His increased notoriety allowed him to collaborate with various high-profile artists during this time.

In 2009, Flo Rida released his second album, R.O.O.T.S. The album contained another major hit that reached the top spot on the charts: "Right Round" featuring Kesha. Following the success of this second album, Flo Rida featured as a guest artist on a number of tracks by other artists once again.

Mainstream Success

Flo Rida's third album, Only One Flo (Part 1), featured a range of guest artists such as T-Pain, Gucci Mane, Ludacris, and many others. This third album allowed Flo Rida to consolidate his early success and establish a foothold in the music industry. In 2010, the same year he released this album, he established his own record label called International Music Group.

Flo Rida's fourth album, Wild Ones, was released in 2012. The album contained more high-performing hits, and during 2012 Flo Rida also performed at WWE's WrestleMania. In 2015, Flo Rida released an EP entitled My House. Once again, he proved capable of releasing hits that reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, he collaborated with Pitbull on the track "Greenlight."
