He gained fame by starting in four magic specials that exposed magic secrets on the Fox network using his stage name, the Masked Magician. He was born on June 14, 1956 in Los Angeles, California and started practicing illusions at the age of five with a trick called, "the ball and vase" that his father gave to him while he was recovering from an illness. In his teens, he performed illusions with the "International Cultural Awareness Program," for over a million students throughout the Unified School Systems. His performances also included segments where magic secrets were revealed in order to encourage others to become magicians.
In the 80's and 90's, Valentino lived in Las Vegas and performed in casino shows including Viva Las Vegas and Splash. For about two years in 1997 and 1998, Valentino performed as the Masked Magician on several Fox television specials called Breaking the Magician's Code: Magic's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed. He became well-known in Brazil after his sketches were broadcast in the Rede Globo's Sunday news magazine show Fantástico from 1999 to 2000, in which he was referred by the alias Mr. M. He married Jacquiline Janssen in 1990 and the couple had two children; they divorced in 2005.
