Xiu Li Hawken is a Chinese businesswoman who has a net worth of $1.5 billion dollars. Xiu Li Hawken was born in Harbin, China, and earned a degree in Chinese literature from Heilongjiang University. She and her brother built a sizable fortune by leasing out underground air-raid shelters as retail space, through their company, Renhe Commercial Holdings. The spaces are now a popular network of underground shopping malls.
She relocated to London in the early 90s, where she worked as a journalist, and then began a career in finance. She subsequently married a British teacher and has made her primary home in the UK. She is still the main shareholder in Renhe, but her brother serves as the company's CEO, and handles operations. In addition to her involvement with Renhe, she is also an active investor in China Shouguang Agricultural, an agriculture market, and runs the Shanxi Zhongxin football team.
