Faruk Eczacibasi is born in 1954, in Istanbul, to the eminent family Faruk Eczacibasi, owners of an eponymous industrial group of companies founded in Turkey in 1942. Thus, he is a major shareowner in the Eczacibasi group, along with his brother Bulent Eczacibasi and other family members. Coming from a wealthy background, Faruk earned his Bachelor's and MBA degrees from the prestigious Istanbul German Lycee and Berlin Technical University's School of Management, respectively.
Upon his graduation in 1980, he joined the family business and he served in various positions in the company. Now Vice Chairman of Eczacibasi Holding, Faruk Eczacibasi was the one to conduct the group's e-transformation as head of Eczacıbaşı's IT company, Eczacıbaşı Information and Communication Technologies. Holding interests in health, consumer goods, real estate and building materials companies, and with plans to expand into mining, the group now consists of 41 companies and hires 11,370 employees.
