Born Adi Burjorji Godrej on 3 April 1942, he made his fortune as a head of the Godrej Group, an Indian oldest consumer goods conglomerate. Soon after his graduation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and gaining MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, Godrej returned to India, and joined the family business. He implemented numerous process improvements by modernizing and systematizing management structures, which took the Godrej Group to a great height. Founded in 1897 by Godrej's ancestors, Adreshir and Pirojsha, the Godrej Group has since evolved into one of the biggest and definitely the oldest conglomerates in India, with a presence in a vast variety of industries. Moreover, Godrej participates in many philanthropic activities. Being a great supporter of the World Wildlife Fund in his country, Godrej has also developed a green business campus in the Vikhroli, which covers 150 acres of mangrove forest and a school for company employees' children.
