In addition to serving as a dealer of heavy equipment, Hamami also got involved in investments, leasing and energy. He acquired Chandra Sakti Utama Leasing from Standard Chartered, and most recently purchased HD Finance, which provides financing for leasing cars.

Having lost his sight to glaucoma in 1999, he passed on all of his business duties to his son Muki. A former Navy jet pilot and the youngest colonel in the Indonesian military, he currently resides in Jakarta, Indonesia with his wife. They have four children.
