Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portugueses soccer player and captain of the Portugueses National Team with a net worth estimate of $130 million. He was born on Februray 5th, 1985 in Funchel Madeira, Portugal. His father(José Dinis Aveiro) was a gardener and his mother( Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro) was a cook. The second name of Ronaldo was given to him because of his father’s favorite actor, Ronald Reagan. Ronaldo has three other siblings.
He began playing at the age of eight with Andorinha. In 1995, he signed with Nacional. He would take them to the championships. With the heat on him he got a three day trial with Sporting Club de Portugal. They liked what they saw and signed him to their team He made a huge splash in his Sporting debut when he scored not one but two goals. At the age of 15 he hit a moment when he could have to stop playing forever. He was diganosed with a racing heart. After a sucessful surgery he was able to go on and fullfill his destiny. In the summer of 2003, Manchester United manager, Alex Furguson spotted Cristiano play. Furguson was impressed by the young players skills but he still wasn’t sure. It wasn’t until Ronaldo’s sporting beat Furguson’s United that he and the United team decided the best move would be to sweep Ronaldo up.
Ronaldo became the first ever Portugueses player. He signed up for 12.24 million for the 2002-2003 season. The team decided to roll out Ronaldo’s talent slowly. He would usually play late in the game when the team was assured victory. He scored his first goal with a free kick on November 1st, 2003. After that his skill on the soccer field began to shine. In 2005 fans voted him FIFpro special young player of the year. Ronaldo became the team’s star. In 2007 he signed onto United for another 5 years. This contract made him the highest paid member in the team’s history. He ended the 2007 season with a slew of awards including the PFA Player’s Player of the year and PFA fan’s player of the year. The 2008 seasson started off rocky with Ronaldo headbutting an opponent. This resulted in him being banned from three matches. Once allowed back on the field Ronaldo proved to be a huge player for United. On March 19th, 2008 he played captain for the team. As captain he would lead united to winning the championship for that year. On June 26th, 2009 it was announced that Ronaldo would be leaving United to play for Real Madrid. He made his debut with Real Madrid in July of that year. He continues to play for them to this day. In addition to his time with United and Real Madrid, he also played in the 2006 World Cup.
