He has been nicknamed "The Merry Mex" and "Supermex", Lee was born on December 1, 1939 in Dallas, Texas. As a child he spent most of his time working in the cotton fields to earn money for his family and he occasionally attended school. His uncle gave him a few golf balls and a club and Lee would sneak into a nearby country club to practice. Later he became a full-time caddy at the Dallas Athletic Club. He worked for NBC television as a color analyst from 1983 until 1989 for the PGA Tour. Many non-golf fans will recognize Trevino from his roll in Adam Sandler's movie Happy Gilmore, as the head shaking guy.
