Rafalski played hockey for five different teams, he spent 11 of his 15 season career in the National Hockey League playing for the New Jersey Devils from 1999 to 2007 and the Detroit Red Wings from 2007 until he retired in 2011. Prior to his NHL career Brian spent three seasons in the SM-liiga for the Hameenlinnan Pallokerho and the Helsingin IFK. He also played one season for Brynas IF in Elitserien. During his career with the NHL Rafalski has won the Stanley Cup three times, he also played in three Olympic ice hockey tournaments as a member of the United States men's ice hockey team. Rafalski has had an impressive international career he represented Team USA at the 2002 Winter Olympics where he won the silver medal, he also played in both the2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2006 Winter Olympics. At the 2010 Winter Olympics Rafalski was a fill-in United States' alternate captain, where he was named the best defenseman well as being named to the tournament all-star team.
