Drake has had a lot to smile about in 2016. His fourth studio album Views, broke what seemed like every streaming and chart record known to man. His hit singles "One Dance" and "Controlla" were undoubtedly two of the biggest songs of the summer. And to top it all off, his home city of Toronto hosted the NBA All Star Game. And now, as 2016 winds down, Drake has yet another accomplishment to add to his already long list.

Spotify announced earlier this week that Drake is the most streamed artist on the service for the year 2016. He notched a whopping 4.7 billion streams this year, aided heavily by the aforementioned Views album, which was the most streamed album of the year with 2.45 billion streams. In addition, Drake's "One Dance" is the most streamed song of the year, which had 970 million streams.

Drake is joined by Justin Bieber, Rihanna, twenty one pilots, and Kanye West, respectively on the top 5 most streamed artists on Spotify this year. Spotify's most streamed albums after Drake's Views are Justin Bieber's Purpose, Rihanna's Anti, twenty one pilots' Blurryface and The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness.

Spotify's announcement regarding Drake shouldn't be much of a surprise. The service recently announced that Drake was the service's most streamed artist of all time.

Congrats to Drake for his major accomplishment.
