No, the richest people in India are seriously savvy business types with stakes in major industries. There are currently 52 billionaires living in India.

Topping the list with $32 billion to his name is Mukesh Ambani. He's the Chairman, Managing Director and largest shareholder of oil and gas conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited. Ambani also happens to be a big fan of Bollywood films, so his Midas touch may do wonders for that industry in the future. In 2010, he was listed by Forbes.com as the fourth richest billionaire in the world. Ambani also owns the Indian Premier League cricket team 'Mumbai Indians.'

Lakshmi Mittal has a net worth of $30 billion and is also listed on Forbes.com's 2010 billionaires list. He ranks fifth, just one place behind Mukesh Ambani. Although based in London, this Indian steel magnate is the Chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel company, and he's the Vice Chairman of the World Steel Association. Like Ambani, he also has a passion for sports and owns a stake in the British Queens Park Rangers football team.

Anil Ambani tips the scales at a net worth of $17.5 billion. Based in Mumbai, he is the chairman and a major shareholder of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. He is also a member of the Board of Overseers at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also happens to be the younger brother of Mukesh Ambani. The Ambanis are doing a good job of keeping the money in the family.

Azim Premji is worth a cool $14.9 billion. This software guru is the Chairman of Wipro, one of the largest software companies in India. Apart from information technology, Wipro has interests in consumer care, lighting, engineering and healthcare businesses.

Shashi and Ravi Ruia share fifth place. With a combined net worth of $65 million, the Ruia brothers' founded the Mumbai-based $14 billion Essar Group, a multinational conglomerate in the sectors of steel, energy, power, communications, shipping ports and construction. Shashi Ruia is also the Chairman of Essar Group, while his brother Ravi acts as Vice Chairman.
