Aspiring models may choose to attend modeling schools. Modeling schools provide training in walking, makeup application, posing, emoting for photographers and audiences, and other basic tasks. Attending modeling schools does not guarantee job opportunities for models. Models depend on preserving his or her physical characteristics, which requires control of their exercise, diet, sleep and overall health. Upkeep of manicures, pedicures and haircuts are a part of work-related expenses for models.

Models face high competition for modeling jobs since the appeal of the industry is popular. Modeling as a career will grow faster than average for all occupations through 2018.
