The 10 Best-Selling Cars Of All Time

Random Celebrity Article By on May 21, 2012

The automotive industry has been around for more than a century, and in that time they've churned out countless models of cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs. Like in all industries, some of their efforts have been rousing successes, while others have failed. But when it comes to the best of the best, there isn't much room for argument in terms of which cars have been the most popular. It's a simple matter of mathematics: Which car has sold the most?

The cars on this list range from the legendary Model T Ford to cars that are still in development today such as the Volkswagen Passat or the Honda Civic. Some of these cars have been through so many revamps and upgrades over the course of their presence on the automotive market that it may be hard to identify them as the same model if you looked at how the car started versus how it ended up (this also accounts for some of these cars' high sales figures – it's easier to sell a lot of cars if that car has been on the market for 30 or more years!).

What makes a car popular enough to be one of the top 10 MOST popular? Brand has a lot to do with it, but a proven track record of performance and reliability help a lot too. There aren't a lot of flashy sports cars on this list – instead it's populated mostly with reliable "family" vehicles. They may not be the most exciting cars in the world, but they get the job done (and they won't score you a speeding ticket just on general principle like some sports cars do).

So click the gallery below and check out the 10 best-selling cars of all time – there's a good chance that you've driven or ridden in one of these in your life – or maybe even owned one.
