For people outside of South Korea, Park Jae-Sang, also known as Psy, seemed to appear out of nowhere. His massively popular single, "Gangnam Style" took the world by storm, and is currently the most watched video on YouTube ever. Psy stands to make over $8 million in ad revenue alone from his video, and video parodies, on YouTube in 2012. Before making it big overseas, he was considered a rather controversial artist in Korea. The majority of K-Pop stars are ridiculously attractive, young, and perfectly trained in music, dance, and acting. Psy is older, chubby, dances any way he likes, dropped out of Berklee Music School, and regularly releases tracks with lyrics that either cause his songs to be banned, or slapped with a "Ages 19+ only" label. Though he won numerous music awards, he was aggressively targeted by various civil groups in Korea, and was often criticized. After completing his mandatory military service, he was informed that his service was illegitimate, and he was ordered to spend two more years in the military. Unable to make music, he wound up quite poor, and ultimately chose to join YG Entertainment, a popular Korean music label which was owned by a friend. Other artists on the label protested his signing with the company, which was primarily focused on the teen market. Their protests proved unfounded, however, as the first single from his second album with the label catapulted him into international superstardom. Recently, he took some of his earnings and purchased a home in the Westwood section of Los Angeles, California.
Psy's house in Westwood is in the swanky Blair House tower. He purchased the two-bedroom, two-bath condo for $1.249 million. However, the dues to live in the condo are a whopping $2,141 more per month. Psy's house is on the south side of the building and affords the singer with views of Century City. The unit is on the fourth floor, and also contains a breakfast nook, laundry room, den, and a balcony. Psy's house also has access to the Blair House's saline pool, gym, tennis court, and 24-hour concierge services. Word on the street is that Psy intends to complete renovate the condo. If his video style is anything to go by, his renovation will be pretty wild.
