Olivier Sarkozy's House: A Bouquet of Flowers Probably Would Have Been Enough…

By on August 20, 2012 in ArticlesCelebrity Homes

When Olivier Sarkozy and Mary-Kate Olsen started dating, there were a lot of raised eyebrows on both sides of the ocean.  Ms. Olsen is one half of the twin entertainment empire known as Mary-Kate and Ashley.  The sisters began their careers playing the same character on the hit sitcom, "Full House", and went on to star in multiple direct-to-video projects, as well as having their images splashed on everything from children's clothes to lunch boxes.  After battling the various demons that come with growing up in the spotlight, the sisters took charge of their own images, and launched a fashion design business that has become quite successful.  Olivier Sarkozy is the half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and a divorced father of two.  A successful banker, he has spent a great deal of his adult life in the US, and he is currently co-head and managing director for the very powerful Carlyle Group in New York.  There is a seventeen-year age difference between the two, but, based on the fact that Mary-Kate has been working since she was in diapers, it is safe to say that she is a bit more mature than the average twenty-six year old.  Though the couple has been relatively low-key about the status of their relationship, Mr. Sarkozy recently purchased a large townhouse that allows him to live closer to Ms. Olsen's current residence.

Olivier Sarkozy's house on East 10th Street in Manhattan cost $6.25 million.  It is actually one half of a matching pair of homes designed by famed architect, James Renwick.  The townhouse is 4,200 square feet and five stories tall.  It contains five bedrooms, three and half bathrooms, two living rooms, and a stunning terraced garden.  Olivier Sarkozy's house also features a wine cellar, a second floor balcony, multiple fireplaces, and a lovely winding staircase.  There is speculation that Olivier Sarkozy's house is actually the home he plans to share with Mary-Kate Olsen, and that the twin townhouse next door is the future home of Ashley Olsen.  As both Mary-Kate and Ashley are remaining characteristically tight-lipped about their plans, we will just have to wait and see whether either of those rumors becomes fact.
