Kara DioGuardi's House: The $7.995 Million Mansion That Songwriting Built

Random Celebrity Article By on August 28, 2012

There are a few movers and shakers in Hollywood that seem to do their best work behind-the-scenes.  Kara DioGuardi has amassed a slew of awards, and a very healthy bank account, writing and producing music for a range of pop and R&B artists.  Though she has enjoyed a few hits as a singer herself, she seems more content to continue writing and producing hit after hit for other artists.  The few times she has made a foray into working in front of the camera have been largely unsuccessful.  She was a judge on the short-lived 2006 reality competition, "The One:  Making a Music Star".  Then she was the fourth judge on "American Idol" during Seasons 8 and 9, but left the show due to a sense that she was the "odd man out" during much of her time on the program.  Most recently, she served as Head Judge on "Platinum Hit", another reality music competition geared towards singer/songwriters.  The Bravo Network launched the show with little fanfare (did anyone even know it was on?), and did not renew it for a second season with equally little notice.  Luckily, Ms. DioGuardi's living does not rely on her reality television work.  Instead, it is the more than 300 songs, written for such artists as Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Cobra Starship, Meat Loaf, Fefe Dobson, Natalie Imbruglia, and Theory of a Deadman, among other artists, that accounts for her fortune.  For the last few years, she has been trying to unload a Studio City mansion that is apparently no longer to her liking.  The massive home is a testament to her songwriting prowess.

Kara DioGuardi's house in Studio City is 7.600 square feet and sits on 3.5 acres of land overlooking the city and nearby mountains.  She purchased the massive home in 2004 for $3.5 million, and her husband, builder Mike McCuddy, renovated it extensively.  She is now asking for $7.995 million, a drop from the $10 million she listed it for originally.  Kara DioGuardi's house has five bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms.  The house also includes marble and hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, a massive eat-in kitchen with a central island, stunning chandeliers, multiple fireplaces, and high ceilings.  Outside Kara DioGuardi's house, the extensive grounds include an infinity-edged pool, a spa, and a long winding drive.  It is unclear as to why Ms. DioGuardi wants to sell the house, but it is clear that everything about it screams success.
