Javier Bardem was already quite famous in Spain when he burst onto the collective conscious here in the United States, with his Oscar-nominated performance in "Before Night Falls" in 2000. A member of a famed Spanish acting family, he initially pursued a career as a painter, before finally following in the footsteps of the rest of his family. Since the start of his professional career in the early 90s, he has won multiple awards, including a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in "No Country for Old Men", and has established himself as both a charismatic leading man and a believable character actor. On top of that, he's pretty easy on the eyes. In general, he has made headlines for his acting choices and performances, but a few years ago, all media outlets were glued to the fact that he, and gorgeous fellow Spanish thespian, Penelope Cruz, had publicly announced that they were a couple. The two welcomed their first child into the world in early 2011, and subsequently put their lovely Los Angeles home on sale. Though they are incredibly private about their personal lives, they have mentioned wanting to have a large family, and it would seem that both parents are considering returning to Spain to be closer to their own families, as their brood continues to grow. Their former home has already been purchased at a fraction of what it cost initially, but the two seemed less focused on making a perfect sale, and more focused on moving on with their lives.
Their $3.5 million, 3,334 square foot single floor former home, contains three bedrooms and four bathrooms. A stunning iron-gate, open courtyard, and white stucco walls give the home a decidedly Mediterranean feel. High ceilings, hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and multiple skylights, make the elegant home feel open and airy. A large outdoor veranda with a pool completes the property. The whole place has a truly relaxed vibe that is in keeping with the low-key reputation of the couple. In general, the two actors seem to choose intense roles. Mr. Bardem is currently preparing to play the latest Bond villain, for example. However, it is clear that they choose their living space based on its ability to allow them to relax and unwind. Here's hoping they find another gorgeous, calm property, in whatever country they ultimately choose to call home.
