Andy Roddick's Home: Is Selling His $3.060 Million Home a Sign That His Tennis Hopes are Fading?

By on March 8, 2012 in ArticlesCelebrity Homes

Andy Roddick has established himself as one of the best tennis players currently playing in the professional circuit.  His 2003 US Open title makes him the last American male to have won a grand slam event.  He was briefly ranked #1 in the world and held the title for one week.  He has made it to the finals at Wimbledon three times, and to the semi-finals at various other tournaments.  He also has a beautiful wife, Brooklyn Decker, a former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and actress. A recent run of bad luck has left him ranked 31st in the world, and 3rd among American males.  His boyishly handsome face has made him popular with tennis fans and non-tennis fans alike.  He is also known for his witty conversation during interviews, and for his ability to imitate other players on the circuit, be they male or female.  Unfortunately, he is also known for having an unpredictable temper, and has been penalized, or thrown out of games multiple times over the course of the last few years.  The continual anger management issues have lowered his rankings considerably, and there are whispers that his retirement is imminent.  He recently played an exhibition match against Rafael Nadal at Madison Square Garden.  The game was going well and the two athletes were putting on quite a show for the viewing audience.  However, after a series of volleys, and a show of ball handling skill from Nadal, Roddick tried to repeat his colleague's magic, with unexpected results.  After Mr. Roddick buried the ball in the net while trying to shoot between his legs, the ball girl ran out to retrieve the errant tennis ball.  At the same moment, Mr. Roddick chose to throw his racket at the net in mock disgust.  It very narrowly missed the ball girl, bounced over her head, and narrowly missed her on the other side, while Mr. Roddick looked on, horrified.  It may be that his head is concerned with other things.  Like whether anyone is going to buy his $3.060 million house in Austin, Texas.

The $3.060 million, 5, 558 square foot home, houses four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and looks out on Lake Austin.  Bright, airy, and comfortable, the house is nestled at the base of Mount Bonnell.  The large, open plan kitchen is attached to a recreational area.  The living room features a fireplace and a great deal of sunlight.  There is an office and a series of massive walk-in closets.  A covered terrace provides a beautiful space for laying out, or dining outside with friends during the warmer months.  Finally, no athlete's house would be complete without a full gym setup as well.  Hopefully, Mr. Roddick's ability to sell his former home, will not take a nosedive like his current level of tennis play.
